Detoxifying your body properly – rules and tips
We are daily exposed to toxins from air, food, water and other beverages, drugs, tobacco, cosmetics, household products, and so on. With the fast pace of the progress, we are able to benefit from various advances that make our lives easier today but can lead to terrible consequences in a long run. Increasing production in the last 50 years can be correlated with the increasing rates of cancer development, diabetes, obesity, heart and cardiovascular diseases, infertility, Alzheimer's, and many other conditions. Patrick Quillin, PhD, RD, CNS, the author of the book Beating Cancer with Nutrition, says that there are a lot of exotic methods of detoxifying such as Chelation therapy when intravenous injections of DMPS are administered but the basic methods such as cleaning out of the bowel through normal bowel movement are the most important and effective. According to Dr. Quillin, bowel movement is essential for the body cleansing of toxins because the bowel is the main organ where the toxins are accumulated and stagnated in the human body. To achieve regularity and complete bowel movement you should have a diet high in fiber and plant food as well as drink a lot of clean, filtered water. Dr. Patrick Quillin says that it is better to drink filtered tap water rather than bottled water which is also rich in toxins such as Bisphenol released from the plastic. For this reason, the doctor also says that you should opt for glass, china or stainless steel. He says that consuming a lot of toxins is also extremely dangerous because they are not simply added to one another but tend to multiply their toxicity through the synergism. For example, consuming two different toxins doesn’t mean that you slightly increased the toxicity in your body by two toxins but rather induced the toxicity of other present toxins.
Dr. Patrick Quillin points out that another mechanism through which our body is cleansed from toxins is sweating. Skin is our largest organ that plays an important role in the metabolism. If you want to detoxify your body safely and effectively, you should drink plenty of water and exercise well so that you sweat out the toxins from your body.
Dr. Patrick Quillin is certain that you don’t need any exotic means to detoxify your body. He says that you can add to your list of supplements certain Chinese herbs and mushroom extracts that are very potent detoxifying agents but you don’t need to go for expensive procedures and therapies to stay healthy. Simply make sure your diet makes you clean out your bowel at least once a day and sweat during the exercising to facilitate the excretion of toxins.
