Good news for people with diabetes type one
Results of the new research revealed that patients with diabetes type one have inflammation and intestinal environment that differs from the intestinal flora of a healthy person, or a person who do not have other autoimmune conditions which diabetes type one is considered. People with the condition showed significantly more signs of inflammation in the intestinal membranes as well as certain bacteria which is not found in healthy people. The hope is that this data may help find new ways of the disease treatment by focusing on the unique intestinal characteristics of those with diabetes type one.
What can prevent the decline of cognitive functions in older adults?
A new research conducted by the scientists from the West Virginia University discovered that listening to music at least 12 minutes a day can help elderly people with memory loss. The researchers found out that a simple meditation or music listening may have many benefits for older adults with memory loss. During the research, 60 older adults with a cognitive decline or memory loss were practicing beginner meditation or music listening for 12 minutes a day daily during 12 weeks. Both groups showed significant improvements in memory function and objective cognitive performance after just those three months. They also showed improvement in sleep, mood, and the general quality of life at the three-month mark.
New GMO apple will be available at stores
A new kind of genetically modified apples may soon appear on your grocery store’s shelves. A new Golden apple variety that will not turn brown will appear on ten grocery stores’ shelves in the United States’ Midwest this year. The apple is produced in Canada and is expected to be crispier in texture as well. The U.S. department of agriculture first approved the U.S.’s genetically modified apples about two years ago saying that they are unlikely to create a healthy risk and the FDA is not required to approve genetically engineered crops for consumption.
