What type of a medication is Mysoline?

Mysoline or Generic Primidon by Abbott is a prescription drug that is most commonly used for different types of epileptic seizures. These include such seizures like the myoclonic ones, generalized tonic-clonic, simple partial, akinetic and complex partial seizures. It belongs to the pyrimidinedione class of anticonvulsants and unlike the majority of anticonvulsants it is not commonly used in treating bipolar disorder or other psychiatric conditions. It is sometimes used for essential tremor, while it has also been used in the treatment of cerebral palsy, athetosis and long QT syndrome. However, it is still mainly a medication used for treating epileptic seizures of different types.

Mysoline is an oral medication and it has been used for treating many different types of epileptic seizures. For a long time, it was the medication of choice, although in the last decade or so, it has fallen out of grace due to introduction of new medications.
