Modafinil Modalert 200mg review
I have been using Modalert 200 mg for a couple of months now. In this review, I share my experience with the drug including its positive and negative effects, combination with other medications, as well as my personal recommendations on optimal usage regimen.
Modalert 200 mg is a potent brain stimulant developed for narcolepsy which is currently used off-label, i.e. to promote wakefulness and cognitive functions in healthy people.
What is Modalert?
Generic Modafinil is a known brand of so-called smart drug. It is a medication that was actually developed for narcolepsy management but currently it’s much more known and more frequently purchased for off-label uses, i.e. not for the purposes it was initially intended. But do not be scared, it is not a recreational drug. On the contrary, it is rather a medication that can make you more productive in all of the facets of your life.
This name is one of the multiple commercial names that are used to sell Modafinil (the original name of the active agent). It is a substance that is classified as analeptic, i.e. an agent that renders potent excitant effect on the central nervous system and in particular on respiratory and vasomotor centers of the medulla oblongata. By the way, caffeine is also included in this group. Due to this stimulating effect, the formulation doesn’t allow people with narcolepsy to fall asleep during the day spontaneously as they usually do due to the disorder that messes up with the sleep-wakefulness cycle regulation. But what makes the formulation so popular for unintended uses, i.e. to promote wakefulness, focus, and productivity, and so on, is that it acts as a cognitive functions stimulant even in people without narcolepsy.
The most known brand in the U.S. is Provigil. It is owned by the large company Teva pharmaceuticals and it is quite an expensive medication. However, if you want to save on the pills, you can get exactly the same formulation under the name generic Modalert or Modafinil made and distributed by other pharmaceutical companies. It is so because the formula is no longer protected by an exclusive patent which means that multiple companies have access to it and are legally able to manufacture Modafinil and sell it under various names.
Who can use Modalert?
Officially in the U.S. and some other countries, the formulation is approved only for narcolepsy but can be also prescribed for people who cannot get enough sleep due to sleep apnea or need wakefulness boost for their night shifts. However, the medication is proven to be very effective for ADHD, apathy in depression, and simply for people who do not have enough night sleep or are sleepy due to various factors including even sensitivity to weather. It is so popular as a cognitive functions booster, but how do people buy Modalert 200 mg if it’s a prescription medication? Luckily, there is an easy way to get the pills without Rx and even at a lower price. Online pharmacies that sell the meds internationally while being located where the drug is sold over-the-counter sell and ship Modalert tablets worldwide.
Why did I decide to buy Modalert 200 mg?
I got the medication not because I have narcolepsy. I have another sleepiness disorder – hypersomnia. Without an alarm, I can sleep for 10-12 hours straight. Naturally, it’s not possible to sleep that much during the working days.
From Monday to Friday I sleep for 6-8 hours a night. During the day I feel very sluggish and find it very difficult to concentrate on tasks and do them on time. I’ve checked my health and luckily I don’t have any serious health conditions that could cause such symptoms. But the problem remains – I need either to sleep a lot or I cannot be fully active and productive during the day hours.
A couple of months ago I heard about Modafinil from my coworker who seems to be always on track: he is cheerful, productive, socially active, and goes to gym thrice a week. He doesn’t seem to be any upset due to the lack of sleep during the week. So when I was devouring my third espresso of the day, he mentioned that coffee effect cannot compare to Modalert. To be honest, I’ve stumbled across some posts about Modafinil before but never seriously considered taking any wakefulness-promoting tablets. I am quite skeptical about medical products that influence behavior but I decided to dig into this particular medication after my coworker said that the tablets are used by the military and do not have adverse effects as their predecessors, amphetamines, which actually caused psychological and physical dependence.
What are the effects of Modalert?
To be honest, I didn’t expect any wow results from the use of pills.
I’ve never experienced any special boost from energy drinks.
But with a single pill of Modalert 200 mg in the morning before breakfast, after about 30 minutes, I felt so renewed as if I was on vacation for a week!
Needless to say, it was the most productive day at work for, maybe, a couple of months.
The effects of Modalert I experienced myself are:
– A powerful boost of energy without negative effects such as rapid heartbeat;
– Improved focusing;
– Faster thinking;
– Better memory;
– Good mood as the work is done easily.
I was so impressed by the results that I decided to use the pills daily! But it’s not recommended for everyone (remember, I have hypersomnia and sleep a lot). There are certain drawbacks that can make you think twice before getting the pills or at least taking them daily.
What are the dangers of Modalert 200 mg use?
– If you have trouble falling asleep at night, do not use the whole dosage, take a half of a pill;
– The pills can be taken only in the morning; otherwise, you can have insomnia;
– It is important to engage in something productive while taking the pill or you may end up focusing intensely on a game or other unimportant task (our brains do not choose what to focus on);
– When working with Modafinil, I noticed that I forget about food. It can be a good thing for people who want to lose weight but I believe it’s not a healthy thing to do.
– I wouldn’t recommend using the pills every day as you may end up developing psychological addiction, i.e. get used to being super energetic and focused and feel extra-sluggish without Modalert while it’s not true – it’s just your normal self.
Is it safe to use Modalert 200 mg without a prescription?
Before getting the pills and starting their use, I read a ton of articles, reviews, and, of course, the official label of the medication. All of them say that it cannot cause dependence and is not harmful in long-term use. At the end of the day, the medication was developed for long-term use as people with narcolepsy cannot live a normal life without potent wakefulness stimulators.
I have been using Modalert for a couple of months now. At first, I used the pills daily, now I take a half of a pill every other day and sometimes make week-long breaks. I can say that I don’t have any withdrawal syndrome that can indicate addiction; I don’t experience any heart rate increase while taking the pills or any other side effects that can be associated with stimulants use.
I would say that you can buy Modalert 200 mg and use it without any worries. Of course, it all depends on your general health condition. Before I embarked on this journey, I made sure to get a thorough examination of my organs and systems to be sure that my sleepiness isn’t related to any life-threatening diseases or any conditions that require treatment. I have gastroesophageal reflux disease and mild depressive disorder which potentially can make me overly sleepy but these conditions are not listed in the contraindications for the pills use so I think that my choice is safe and justified.
Can you combine Modalert with other medications?
It is serious question many people ask themselves if they use any medicines on a daily basis. I regularly use Omeprazole for my GERD and Fluoxetine for depression.
These medicines are not contraindicated to be used with Modalert. If you use any other medications, check the instruction or better consult your physician. In the official label, I found that the medication is not advised to be combined with opioids and other medications that are metabolized with the participation of CYP3A4 enzyme as Modalert accelerates the work of the enzyme and can make those drugs wash out faster.
How should be Modalert 200 mg used?
Officially, the dosage per day is 200 mg or one pill.
I use a half of a pill not to get insomnia and it’s sufficient for a person who doesn’t have narcolepsy.
I would advise starting from 100 mg in the morning and use another 100 mg before noon if you feel that half of the dosage is not enough.
Conclusion: would I recommend buying Modalert?
If you suffer from the same problem as I do, I definitely recommend getting the pills and using them but only if you have no contraindications for their use (pregnancy, young age, severe heart disease). But I would recommend taking the pills only when you had a sleepless night or need to work for extra hours.
I say so not because I believe that more frequent use is harmful but I believe it’s better to work on improving your health and general energy by doing sports and eating healthy rather than fully relying on brain stimulants.
