What is the relationship between Mindfulness and advocacy?
Mindfulness, which is sometimes translated as Mindfulness, is a psychotherapeutic a psychotherapeutic practice inspired by vipassana meditation, although it is devoid of all the religious and mystical connotations of this ancient tradition and has been standardized and designed so that its effects can be easily investigated by the scientific community.
Since it was developed during the second half of the 20th century, Mindfulness has been applied to many contexts beyond the classical field and psychotherapy itself, and in many of them benefits have been observed for its practitioners. One of these contexts is the world of work linked to organizations that work in highly competitive environments and whose workers are frequently exposed to stress. Mindfulness serves among other things to manage high levels of stress and facilitate the task of focusing attention on finding practical solutions and achieving goals.
This makes Mindfulness of interest in the world of law, given that anxiety and excessive stress are the second most frequent health problem among lawyersaccording to the First Study on Pathologies and Injuries of Lawyers in Spain conducted by the Foundation Institute for Applied Research on Lawyers. In addition, a report published by Iberian Lawyer in 2018 points out, from survey-based research, that anxiety is the most frequent psychological health problem among lawyers.
This kind of evidence on the psychological burnout associated with lawyering embodies the complexity of the profession, always subject to change and the ability to adapt to what is new. Fortunately, Mindfulness is a very practical tool to face the challenges of everyday work from a constructive mindset. Moreover, once you have learned its theoretical and practical foundations, it is easy to use. in a wide variety of situations without the need for help. That is why many companies organize Mindfulness in company courses and workshops.
