The 9 pillars to overcome anxiety crises
Simple tips that you can use in your daily life to overcome anxiety crises.
You've done it: after a lot of effort you have become the person who causes you the most anxiety, hurts you the most and, unfortunately, you end up radiating that negativity on others.
"Not even your worst enemy can hurt you as much as your own thoughts" Buddha
We are exposed to continuous comparison, and that generates quite a lot of anxiety.. In addition, if to that we add that we must go enduring the daily bombardment of bad news, the set makes us create a cocktail that badly controlled can have very bad consequences on our mind, which will be translated in bad sleep, stomach ache, bad mood, headache or tiredness.
Overcoming the crisis of anguish
On this occasion I have brought a series of tips that I would like you to take into account for your anguish crises, or if you have already gone through one, I would like you to use them as aor, if you have already gone through one, that you use them as a way of reflection in order to know how to face them better. They are keys that I have been taking from my clinical practice and from seeing different patients who, like you, have suffered this and have been overwhelmed by this problem.
1. Don't try to learn not to get anxiety, but to know how to channel it.
Don't you realize that if I tell you not to think about a green dog, you will think about it more? Well, The same thing happens if we go all day with the idea of not having anxiety in mind: you will carry it between your eyebrows all day long..
You have to change "control" for "management", and I want you to listen to me. It is impossible to eliminate an emotion such as anxiety or fear, but we can know how to manage it so that it does not create more feelings of anxiety.
2. You can be afraid and be in the place
Panic does not have to decide us to leave. This often makes you mark your rhythm of life and it is very negative, if for example you go out to the mountains for a walk with a friend and you suffer a panic attack try to stay there, that will make you gain security and feel more capable to face future panic attacks, don't you think?
3. Don't focus your life on preventing things from happening to you, but on focusing on where you want to go.
This way you will be able to prepare yourself to solve any situation. Get rid of the obsessive idea in your mind of "this can't happen to me again" and as a result create a life stuck to not going to certain places so as not to fall into it. We cannot make anxiety our lifestyle, and it is important to know that.and it is important to know it.
4. Anxiety is an emotion, not a god
It cannot control you, nor can you worship it all day long.
5. Give real meaning to the experience
"I have been about to die": that is what your mind thought was going to happen. It was not death that you looked at, but the fear of death..
6. You have the right to be afraid or anxious, but fear or anxiety is an emotion and is not a truth.
Therefore, accept your emotions. It is normal to be scared, and it will help you to reduce your anxiety.
7. Panic works by association
Be careful with this; if for example, as we have seen before, you had a panic attack going up to the mountain to look for mushrooms, you will involuntarily avoid going to the mountain to look for mushrooms, have you noticed? Well, this is totally negative and does you a lot of harm. You have to abandon the obsessive idea that having anxiety and being with anxiety is incompatible, and it is totally false. Do not believe that you can only live without anxiety. You can have anxiety and be there. You have to hold on, and even if it is sometimes bitter, still be there.
8. Never stop working on your breathing
It is important. I am not asking you to do meditation, simply that you know how to breathe in with your belly and breathe out with your chest.. If you want to learn more about this, look for information on diaphragmatic breathing.
9. Focus on the here and now
Stop living in the past month when you got the last episode, and stop thinking that tomorrow you will get the next one by doing X thing. Focus on the present moment and the tools to solve it..
In conclusion...
As you can see, I am not going to deceive you, this is just the beginning and some basic notions that you can apply to your anxiety crises. I am not looking to solve such a serious problem with these nine pillars, but I am looking to to make you reflect and sow the seeds of change.. I ask you to read them and be constant, and above all to apply them in your daily life.
I also want to encourage you to look at what the points I have shown you look like and use them as inspiration to develop your psychological tools.
Lastly, I want to tell you that don't feel bad about asking for help from a specialist, as this is a more common problem than you might think. This is a more common problem than you think, and the sooner you ask for help the sooner we will solve it.
