Ayurveda, a life of balance
Ayurveda is a holistic medical system, that is, it treats the body as an integral whole, made up of mind, body and soul. The mind and the body are closely linked and their relationship is the basis of health. It has been practiced without interruption in the Asian continent for more than 4,000 years.
What's your objective?
Its main objective is to maintain and protect health and alleviate the conditions of sick people. The most important thing in Ayurveda is not the pathology itself, it is the cause. Emphasize the internal factors behind the disease. What has happened or what is happening so that the disease has manifested itself. It is the same as if the land is sterile, the seed does not grow. If the biological humors (Vata, Pita, Kapha) are in balance, the disease is not present.
Ayurveda starts from the fundamental basis that everything that is present in the macrocosm is also present in the body of each individual in miniature, microcosm. The universe is the macrocosm and the man is the microcosm.
Basic principles
The basic constituents that exist in the universe - man are 5 elements: Ether (Akasha), Air (Vayu), Fire (Agni), Water (Jala or Apa) Earth (Prithvi). These 5 items are represented in our body through the three biological humors or doshas: Vata, Pita and Kapha. These three doshas act on both the physical and mental levels.
VATA
It means "the one who moves things." The air and ether they are represented in the body as Vata. It is responsible for the movements of the muscles, the heartbeat, the expansion and contraction of the lungs, the movements of the stomach and intestines. Motor and sensory movements, nerve impulses and all movements of the nervous system.
PITA
It means "the one who digests things." The fire and water they are represented on the body as Pita. Is he metabolism. It works the digestive system, the gray matter of the brain cells (it manifests itself in the form of intelligence). Fire activates the retina that perceives light.
KAPHA
It means "the one who joins or holds things." The land and water they are represented in the body as Kapha. Water manifests itself in the secretions of gastric juices, mucous membranes, plasma, cytoplasm, etc. The earth manifests itself in bones, muscles, tendons, skin, hair and all solid structures.
It is very important that the five elements are in balance in the Universe. When there is an imbalance is when natural disasters occur. In the same way the human body reacts when there is no balance between these elements, between the doshas.
An excess of ether can produce or a decrease of this element can produce hypertrophy. An excess of air tachycardia and a decrease can produce for example. An excess of fire can cause fever for example or a decrease in fire can cause anemia. An excess of water can produce edema, pleura and a decrease of this element dehydration. An excess of soil can produce tumors, and their decrease deformities.
To maintain health and prevent disease, Ayurveda takes into account the constitution of each person, diet, oil or massage, age, season of the year, daily routine.
By achieving balance between body, mind and soul, we are a HEALTHY person.
One is in everything and everything is in one.
