Nuvigil is an analeptic which is widely applied in the treatment of sleepiness that is associated with cases of narcolepsy.

Although there is evidence of clinical tests, according to which the double application (morning and noon) of 200 mg is more efficient. But single taking of 400 mg of the drug does not significantly increase the efficiency, compared with a dosage of 200 mg.   In the treatment of sleepiness associated with shift work, it is advisable single taking of 200 mg of the medication in an hour before the start of the work. A good effect is also achieved with a single application of a dose of 300 mg.

In all cases, the daily dosage should not exceed 400 mg; taking the drug in the second half of the day is not recommended, as it is slowly cleared from the body (half-life is taking at about 12-15 hours) and it can interfere with normal night's sleep.
