Healthy eating pyramid
Following a Mediterranean diet would save us from many heart diseases, along with others caused by obesity. Our lifelong diet largely resembles the healthy eating pyramid.
There was a time when fast foods from other countries greatly disrupted our way of eating, but in recent years there has been a regression to the usual Mediterranean diet. Today we are going to detail how the pyramid of healthy eating is ideal for a balanced diet. This includes all the foods that we should eat daily, that is, they are the basis of our diet. We find cereals and other whole or refined derivatives, such as breakfast cereals, potatoes, pasta or rice.
The function of this group is fundamentally energetic.
Recommendation: 4 - 6 servings a day.
At this level we have fruits, vegetables and greens, with their consequent vitamins, minerals and fiber.
Its function is to regulate our body.
Recommendation:
- Fruits: 3 servings a day.
- Vegetables and vegetables: 2 servings a day.
- Vegetables + fruit: 5 servings a day.
Dairy (milk, yogurt, and cheese) and oils are incorporated at this level.
Its function is to provide protein and calcium, but for example in the case of dairy products, being products of animal origin, they contain many saturated fats and cholesterol. It is preferable to opt for the same foods but in their skimmed or semi-skimmed versions.
Recommendation: 2 - 4 servings a day.
Level 4
In this group we have lean meats, fish, eggs and legumes. When consuming this type of food it is advisable to monitor the fat intake. If we choose to take the right amounts, they are very rich in protein.
Recommendation: moderate consumption.
Level 5
Fatty meats and sausages are the protagonists of this level. In these foods we find a large part of saturated fat, cholesterol, phosphorus and salt.
Recommendation: moderate consumption, opting for those that contain less fat.
Level 6 and 7
At the top of the healthy eating pyramid we have fats, sugars, sweets and sugary drinks.
Recommendation: limit this consumption.
Always choose to use olive oil for cooking or dressing and stay away from industrial pastries and other fats that only add kilos without any nutritional power.
If we base our diet on the first levels of the pyramid of healthy eating, our quality of life will improve considerably and also, you will notice the effects from the first moment. To lead a healthy lifestyle it is also essential to have a good nutritional assistant such as the one included in it to solve those little problems that may arise.
