Recommendations when returning after the trip
If you feel sick, have a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, cough, wounds that worsen or do not heal, or if you report a risk exposure such as having had unprotected sex, having bathed in fresh water, having accidentally been pricked with blood, having been bitten by an animal, having practiced caving, or having been in contact with sick people.
These diseases can appear during, immediately upon arrival or even months after your return, so in the event of any symptoms or exposure, you should notify the trip you made, the country, the reason and the duration.
Certain diseases do not generate symptoms, therefore, if you have been exposed, even if you appear to be well, it is essential that you notify yourself so that a health examination, diagnostic tests and treatment can be carried out if necessary.
Usually at the International Health Center, a complete health examination will be carried out and, depending on the possible risk or exposure to tropical disease, samples will be taken to proceed with the diagnosis and recommend the most appropriate treatment. Most diseases, if diagnosed early, can be treated and eliminated.
If, on the contrary, during the trip you did not present any risk exposure, or any disease, symptom or disorder, it is not necessary to undergo any health examination when you return.
On the other hand, if you are taking antimalarial chemoprophylaxis, remember that it is advisable to finish it according to the medical prescription; If not, it could still present the disease because it is in its incubation period. If you were recommended a dose of vaccine when you return from a trip, remember that it is essential to receive all the doses, otherwise, on the next trip, you will have to reconsider it.
