Safe house for the baby
The first thing to take into account is the baby monitoring or child. It is just as important to have security devices at home as
Babies should not be left alone unsupervised, not even for a few seconds, because in a short time something to regret may occur.
Safety in cribs
Babies who are not yet mobile spend a lot of time asleep or stretched out on their bed. We must take into account the following rules to avoid accidents:
- Buy an approved crib, with a distance between bars of less than 6 cm, a safety closing mechanism on the handrail that does not let it come loose easily and that is made with non-toxic paint or varnish.
- The mattress should fit perfectly, without leaving gaps.
- Cover the baby with a pajama bag or pajama blanket, not with duvets or heavy blankets.
- Do not use a pillow or fill the crib with stuffed animals.
- Do not leave the baby with a bottle full of milk or other liquid to drink alone.
Window and door security
Doors can be closed at the wrong time and children can get their fingers caught. To avoid this, using safety stops can be very useful.
Furniture that can be climbed should not be placed under the windows: chairs, trunks, dressers ... It is highly recommended to use safety locks to prevent children from opening the windows and which in turn allow the window to be opened to the limit of the adult select.
The meshes or nets for railing and windows prevent children from sticking their heads between the bars of balconies or interior stairs.
Kitchen safety
It is recommended that children or babies do not enter the kitchen while it is cooking. The furnace on is the most frequent cause of burn inside the home. There are special protectors so that children cannot operate the kitchen or oven controls. You can also place safety barriers for kitchens placed in the front part of the stove to prevent children from accessing and throwing pots or pans.
It is vitally important to place the handles of the pans inwards and never outwards. Cabinets or drawers with dangerous utensils or cleaning products must be closed with safety devices so that they cannot be opened, or they must be stored in cabinets that cannot be accessed.
Bathroom safety
A few centimeters of water is enough for a child to drown, therefore the most important thing at bath time is not to leave the baby alone for, despite the use of car seats or non-slip bathtub mats. There are also faucet protectors made of silicone or rubber that prevent possible accidental blows during the bath. At bath time we should always check the water temperature and prevent the baby's delicate skin from being burned.
Furniture safety
The list of security devices that we can use in the rest of the home is extensive:
-
- Plug protectors: prevent babies from coming into contact with electrical current; They are easy to install and some of them do not need to be removed to use electronic devices.
- Corner protectors: the corner protectors are usually made of rubber, foam or silicone and prevent accidental bruises.
- Protective foil for windows, glass or mirrors: they prevent them from splintering and falling to the ground in case of breakage.
- Locks for closing cabinets and drawers: prevent children from accessing dangerous objects or substances
- Reel cords: they prevent the smallest of the house from manipulating the cords of the curtains or blinds and protect them from strangulation.
- Anchor fastening posts: they fix the furniture to the wall and prevent the furniture or television from falling on the baby.
