Sleep habits after childbirth
The woman must take care of herself after childbirth to regain strength. The changes are very important, in addition to all the adjustment of her life to the new condition of mother. This is why you will need plenty of rest, good nutrition, and help.
The first thing parents will learn is that babies' schedules do not usually coincide with those of adults. The most common is that they eat every 3 hours approximately, although especially the first days and with breastfeeding on demand there are no fixed schedules, they can sometimes go 3-4 hours without eating and other times they breastfeed every 1-2 hours. The nights are also not respected and they will not always be the moments of rest for the parents. They should take advantage when the baby sleeps to rest them, both during the day or at night, or in short periods and with interruptions or more often.
The first weeks the mother needs to be able to rest and for this it is necessary that she take care of feeding and caring for the baby and herself and delegate the other tasks to family or friends.
They should arrange the house to be as practical as possible, so it is usually more comfortable to have the baby's crib near your bed.
Visits from family and friends can be very pleasant but at the same time very exhausting for mothers. They should have no obligation to care for them or have any inconvenience in retiring to rest or feed the baby if necessary.
According to your doctor, it is important that you go out every day for a walk taking advantage of a baby's nap to have a little time for herself and not feel overwhelmed with the new situation. If possible, it is recommended to have help at home for housework, be it family members or home assistants.
