The healthy child program: preventive medicine for children

This program is made up of a series of standardized health exams, a total of 7, which are carried out by specialist doctors in specific centers in each province, at those moments of the child's life that are most crucial for their development and for their health, both current as in which they can present as adults.

They are examinations that are not intended to provide health care to the child, since the pediatric care network is for this, but to verify the health and development of this in a comprehensive way until adolescence, registering in their health card, the so-called Document of Child Health that each child must have, all the fundamental aspects regarding their growth, weight, dentition, psychomotor and bone development, hearing, vision, oral examination and their state of health or the detection of possible anomalies or diseases. They also include the mandatory prophylaxis and vaccination schedules.

In this sense, health examinations are carried out at the time of birth, collecting prenatal and delivery records, at the first month of life, at 6 months, at 18 months, at 4 years, at 6 years and at 11 years , thus affecting the stage of childbirth and neonatal, in the first years of life and in the preschool and school stages of the child.

This Child Health Document, apart from collecting the development and maturation of the child, collects all those processes, treatments or means of diagnosis, allergies or specifications of any kind, presenting essential information for any health professional who cares for the child.

This document, which must always be in the possession of the parents and which they request from MAPFRE ESPAÑA at the time of the child's birth, must be delivered both to the doctors in charge of the health examinations and to the attending doctors, in order to that each one of them fill it out in their sanitary parcel. On the other hand, the document presents very valuable information to parents for the promotion and education for the health of children in their different stages given by the Spanish Association of Pediatrics.

The care activity of the pediatric care network, both in primary care and specialists, together with the Healthy Child Health Programs and, as we will see later, with the Children's Oral Health Program, guarantee correct pediatric care to all patients. levels and that the commitment of respect to the smallest ones is fulfilled.
