In turn, we live in a social, living and working system that is increasingly chaotic, stressful, materialistic and loaded with information overload (which induces anxiety).
Imagine an animal that is in the forest and is surrounded by a perimeter of predatorsIt feels that at any moment it is going to be eaten. For this reason it begins to breathe in a hurried way, towards the chest, with the purpose of being ready to escape at any moment. It is a breathing of fear where the diaphragm expels the air quickly and presses on the pit of the stomach?
Yes, that's the reason why you feel anxiety in the pit of your stomach (and it's also the explanation for the famous "butterflies" in your stomach when we are teenagers and fall in love). Anxiety is always a result of your Respiratory mechanics.. It is the way you breathe that induces anxiety.
When we get used to living in a state of alertness (due to frequent fears that we have not been able to manage, a very negative environment, stressful routines, not knowing how to set limits for people, overloading ourselves with responsibilities that we cannot assume, etc.) anxiety becomes generalized and conditions our life. It is such an exhausting state that it leads to discouragement and makes it difficult to sleep and rest (by breathing so shallowly, it is totally incompatible with rest, which requires full breathing).
This is also the reason why any solution against anxiety will be totally useless if you do not focus first on the way you breathe. Third key: patience and constancy.
Anxiety is sticky. Sometimes, it stays for years. It is therefore necessary to have patience, as the process may take some time..
However, it does not need to be too many months or years. If the process is practical and we work every day, the intensity of the anxiety can go down in a few weeks and we learn to manage it in a stable way.
Fourth key: companionship
We are social beings, who learn, change and transform ourselves through relationships..
