Tropical Travel: Health Tips
We may have chosen a destination where prevalent diseases such as malaria or others are non-existent in our country. Therefore, to fully enjoy tropical travel and return with the best memory, it is important to take into account the certain health tips.
Water:
Always drink bottled and sealed water on tropical trips. Do not consume ice cubes or drinks that have not been opened in your presence. If you must consume unsafe water, make it drinkable.
Food:
Don't forget the tip: Cook it, Peel it or don't eat it. Do not eat street food or consume raw or semi-raw food, accept peeled fruit or eat it with the skin on.
In case of diarrhea:
You should drink 2 - 3 liters of safe water a day to maintain good hydration.
Avoid excessively sugary solutions, because they can increase bowel movements. Oral rehydration preparations, such as oral serum, can be used. For mild diarrhea, astringent diet and rehydration are usually sufficient. If medication is necessary, take a racecadrotil-based medication.
See a doctor if it is accompanied by a high fever, blood, mucus, or pus. And remember that you should not take antibiotics without the express indication of the doctor.
On tropical travel, protection against insects:
Avoid contact with any type of animal.
Use mosquito repellants that contain DEET in a concentration between 30 and 40%. In the jungle use mosquito nets and never cologne.
Clothing:
Wear comfortable clothing made of natural fibers (cotton, linen) and light, neutral colors with long sleeves and long pants, especially at dusk and at night to avoid insect bites. Footwear must be wide and closed. It should be used to avoid blisters and friction.
