More facts about Generic Januvia (Sitagliptin 100 mg):

What is Januvia medication?

Januvia is one of the most known names of the medication substance Sitagliptin. It is a relatively new antidiabetic medication first approved in 2006. Currently, it is also made not by the well-known brand owner but also by other drug manufacturing companies. It means that people who are prescribed to buy Januvia can now significantly save and get the generic version of the medication since they are usually several times cheaper than their branded counterparts but are equal in the effect.

The medications based on Sitagliptin are used as a monotherapy, two-drug therapy, and triple therapy of diabetes type II contingent on the severity of the condition.

The preparation is a selective inhibitor of adenosine deaminase complexing protein 2. By its chemical structure and action the medication differs from other hypoglycemic medications. The glucose-dependent action of Sitagliptin differs from the principle of action of sulfonylurea, which elevates the production of insulin regardless of the glucose level, even when it is low, and can cause the lowering of the blood sugar below the norm in individuals with type II diabetes and in healthy individuals. Inhibiting adenosine deaminase complexing protein 2, it raises the level of incretin hormones, glucagon-like peptide-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide, which are part of the internal mechanism of glucose homeostasis control. Incretins are produced in the bowel and their concentration rises as a response to food intake. In a normal or raised glucose level, these metabolic hormones enhance the synthesis of insulin and its production by the cells of the pancreas through the certain intracellular mechanisms associated with cyclic adenosine monophosphate. Glucagon-like peptide-1 suppresses the elevated production of glucagon by the certain cells of the pancreas. The lowering or glucagon along with the rise of the level of insulin contributes to the lowered manufacturing of glucose by the liver what leads to the lowered level of blood sugar. Incretins do not affect the synthesis of insulin and glucagon secretion in response to hypoglycemia. Under physiological conditions, the deaminase complexing protein 2 hydrolyses incretins with the formation of inactive products.

The intake of one dose of the preparation inhibits the action of deaminase complexing protein 2 for twenty-four hours and boosts the level of incretins two-three times.

Is it admissible to buy Generic Januvia when you are prescribed the branded medication? Does it have the same effect?

Each year, more and more people from the developed countries look for generic analogs of the branded medications recommended by their doctors at online drugstores. The reason for that are the excessively high prices for the branded meds and the fact that its proven that generics are totally equal to them in the effect and safety. The generics were initially meant to allow people from the developing countries to get the same medicines as the branded ones but cheaper. But the high prices for the brands make people from the countries with high average incomes also to look for generics. Although many doctors still insist that generics are inferior, they do so mainly because they get kickbacks from the owners of large brands for prescribing namely their meds. But if you don’t want to pay extra money for the advertised and promoted medication, you can without any hesitation buy Generic Januvia and enjoy absolutely the same effect. But please choose the reliable sellers of the medication, for instance, like our online pharmacy that values its reputation and sells only the best quality medications.

When should you buy Januvia or its generic?

The optimal time to get any medication for your condition is after your healthcare provider who treats it prescribes you namely this medication and gives instructions on how to use it. Although this medication is used for diabetes type II, it is used in different treatment schemes; therefore, we encourage you to discuss the possibility of using this medication with your physician first before you buy Sitagliptin.

The medication is appointed either alone or together with metformin, sulfonylureas, an agonist of gamma receptor of peroxisome proliferator activator (e.g., thiazolidinedione), or along with sulfonylureas plus metformin, or thiazolidinedione with metformin. The scheme of the therapy of diabetes type II with this medication is appointed by the doctor based on the severity of hyperglycemia (elevated level of blood sugar).

Besides, Sitagliptin is appointed as an addition to insulin with or without concurrent use of metformin, when the diet and physical exercise along with the stable dose of insulin do not provide sufficient control over glycemia.

When Generic Januvia is prohibited to be used?

The medication should not be taken if you experience severe allergic or other negative reactions from its use, in diabetes type I, diabetic ketoacidosis, during pregnancy and lactation, and in children younger than 18 years.

If you buy Generic Sitagliptin and plan to use it while being also diagnosed with renal failure, including of moderate, severe, and terminal with the need for hemodialysis, you should remember that the preparation should be used very cautiously and under a doctor’s supervision.

How to take the pills?

Preferably, it would be better to get a precise guideline from your healthcare provider on how to use Sitagliptin in your case. Here you can find the general recommendations.

The tablets should be taken orally regardless of the meal intake once a day both as a monotherapy and together with other antidiabetic medications. If you missed the dose, you should take it as soon as you remembered unless it’s already time for the next intake. In this case, you need to skip the overlooked dose and take the next one without any changes.

The generally appointed dosage is 100 mg a day. When the medication is prescribed as a part of complex therapy, the smaller doses of sulfonylureas or insulin should be selected to lower the risk of blood sugar lowering below the normal level.

Standard Januvia dosage adjustments for different groups of patients

People with mild kidney dysfunction with creatinine clearance more or equal to 50 ml per minute do not require the reduction of daily dosage.

People with moderate renal function violation with creatinine clearance from 30 to 50 ml per minute are advised to take 50 mg of Januvia a day.

People with severe renal function violation with creatinine clearance less than 30 ml per minute or terminal stage of kidney failure with the need of hemodialysis are advised to take 25 mg a day.

Since the dosage depends on renal function, it is strongly advised to estimate the function of the kidneys before you order Januvia and begin taking the pills and periodically during treatment.

The doses for patients with mild to moderate liver dysfunction don’t need to be adjusted. The administration of the medication to people with severe hepatic dysfunction was not investigated.

Elderly patients do not need a dose adjustment.

The action and safety for the health of the medication for patients under the age of eighteen years have not been adequately studied; therefore, this age category of patients should not receive the preparation.

What adverse effects can Januvia cause?

Other possible adverse reactions are infections of the respiratory tract, headache, sinusitis, and others.

Januvia overdose

Interactions of Generic Januvia with other medicines

Before you order Generic Januvia, make sure to check with your healthcare provider that you don’t use or plan to start using any medications incompatible with this medication.

In general, the medication positively interacts with other hypoglycemic medications, i.e. meds to lower the blood sugar yet the dosages should be adjusted to avoid blood sugar lowering below the norm.
